Drove up to the Farmersville trailhead and left from the Onion Shed. Lots of cracked pavement for the first segment (~1 mile). Good concrete segment for next mile or so. Then it’s crushed granite with some washout in sections. Turned around after ~5 miles at FM2149 as trail surface was crushed gravel and very rough ride.
This trail is great if you’re looking for a safe, urban trail. All of the streets that intersect the trails have clear cross walks/lights which made me feel more comfortable with my dog. My dog is quite reactive so I’m always looking for trails that have fewer people on them but feels safe and this was exactly that!
Perfect fall day for 12 miles of adventure with my dog. We enjoy the wide paved trails and even the hiking trails now that the snakes are less active. Saw a few ducks, and a great blue heron.
Great ride on a weekday or weekend, extremely easy and enjoyable. It’s got some views but it’s more about the ride! Love it and it’s pet friendly
This is a fun trail. Very well shaded and a clear stream trickling throughout the trail.
It's safe. It's not well lit at night. It takes practice but you'll need to figure out how to connect this trail to the Cottonwood Trail. If you can, you can ride all the way from Richardson to White Rock Lake.
I love inline skating here. The path is never too crowded, there are nice views, and up and down inclines come and go with some nice shade from time to time. Be very careful, however. There are wooden bridges and frequent intersections you have to cross. You need to know how to slow down, stop, and jump with relative ease on skates in order to enhance your experience here. All in all, this is a great workout. Bring plenty of water and wear protective gear.
This path is not the greatest for inline skating but is suitable for cycling. There are many intersections with multi-lane streets, many of which do not have protected crosswalks. The intersections also have tactile paving, which makes it very difficult for inline skates, especially if you do not have protection when crossing. There are also wooden plank bridges that are very rough and bumpy which is very hard to maneuver on inline skates.
I mean I wouldn’t recommend doing it at night. There’s a good amount of neighborhood action and it’s relaxing to ride a bike on. The belt line crossing is busy but for the most part it’s safe and separate from the road network.
Biked about 11 miles, starting in Farmersville. Other than a few muddy spots, it’s a good ride. Progresses from asphalt, to different types of gravel to trail. Spring seems like the perfect time to go. I would not recommend this trail during the summer, or on any other type of bike, other than a mountain or hybrid. The park in Farmersville desperately needs a restroom.
We just rode this trail today. The description says it ends at the Highway, but Grapevine has completed the trail all the way to Main Street. We rode up, had a glass of wine and rode back. Be careful of some tricky intersections.
